Honesty is very important but you should seek mutual tolerance firstly.

If I was honest to say to you; "darling, I had sex with Iyabo the housegirl". What would be your "honest" reaction. Considering that we have been in a relationship for 18 years, I have been a great provider, the kids are all doing well in private education(all 3 of them) and I am the love of your life. truelly what would you do ?

My point is simple. You need a cocktail of several elements and honesty is probably the one you need to omit because what one does not know can not kill one. I would take respect over honesty as the last element in the said cocktail.
